When life happens we often ask the question "why?" Have you ever been there? Have you ever felt like asking God, "what are you doing?" Well, that's where I've been the last few months and I'm learning that maybe that question is not the question I should be asking. Is it my responsibility to question the intentions and plans of the God of the universe? I think not. God has given me a purpose to live my life to honor and glorify him wherever I am, whatever I'm doing...today. This post is titled "life" because that’s what I’m doing. But I’m also learning more and more that life is a journey, a journey that will end when I stand before my Father in Heaven. Plans change, but that’s ok.

In November the Lord closed the door with AIM Air. To be honest, this was tough. I found myself asking God “what are you doing?” For a long time this is where I thought I was suppose to be. I love so much about Africa: the people, the culture, the work. For whatever reason this is not where I am for now.

Over the past few years I have traveled a lot and being gone for months at a time has been tough, especially spiritually. What I have grown to see over the past few months is my need to be involved once again in a church community. So on January 5th I moved to Colorado. You might be asking “Jeremy, why Colorado?” Well, I’ve always loved the area and Colorado seems to fit me well. But the biggest draw was the Church, Woodland Park Community Church. Although I’ve only “lived” in Colorado for a month now, I’ve met some great people and have already plugged in to several ministries in the church. God has been so good and I’m excited for what comes next!

Fall 2010

As fall approaches I see the need to update my blog. It seems things are finally starting to come together with plans to head to Africa. In just over 2 months I go through the JAARS Technical Evaluation which will be the final approval, assuming all goes well, with AIM AIR. The next step will be the Technical Orientation which will happen sometime next year. I am still waiting on a specific date for the Orientation to begin and as soon as I have those dates I will be sure to pass them along.

As of now, I am still working with Dynamic, eagerly waiting for the Lord's direction in the next step to take. My heart is still in serving in full-time service as a pilot/mechanic, but am also learning that ministry is all around us. God has called me to serve now, wherever he has me. And working with Dynamic has proven a load of ministry opportunities with those I work with and interact with on a daily basis.

As plans come together as to what this next next year will look like in my pursuit of the Mission field, I will be sure to update this blog. Please keep checking back for more updates.

Spring 2010

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rhzXc1mfGNY/S9ZNh1rrc-I/AAAAAAAAASY/ipJYL_BDZkY/s320/P4210190.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464640441601979362" />
After a little over a year there may be a few who are interested in what I have been doing and what my plans are for the future. I’m currently still working with Dynamic aviation as a pilot/mechanic on a King Air 200. I’ve seen this time as a time to prepare for missions and seek out where the Lord is leading me to serve. So where do I stand with Missions? As many of you know, my heart has been and continues to be to serve as a missionary pilot in East Africa.

Currently I am scheduled to take the JAARS Technical Evaluation in North Carolina during the second and third weeks of November 2010. Assuming the Evaluation goes well, the technical orientation follows, which will take 2 months either in the spring or fall of 2011. The process is lengthy and for me the process and spanned almost a decade through college a Moody Bible Institute and work with Dynamic Aviation to get to the place I feel the Lord is leading. Africa.

While working overseas with Dynamic I am on a month on/off rotation. The month of March was spent working as a mechanic in Nairobi, Kenya with AIM Air. Also, I will be returning to Kenya for the month of May.

Projects in Kenya. Nathan Roberts has established a blog for a project plane called CMA. The blog site established for this project is www.silverbulletrebuild.blogspot.com. CMA is a Kenya registered airplane that is have a Check 3 inspections completed. During my time in Nairobi we worked mainly on repairing the belly skins and bulkheads as well as the routine maintenance on the other planes in the piston fleet.

Los Alamitos JFTB (Joint Forces Training Base) Los Alamitos, California

I had no idea dropping fruit flies from an airplane could be so exciting. The excitement comes not from the bugs themselves, but from the area we fly (all over Los Angeles in some of the busiest airspace in the world) and the fact that I'm flying King Airs instead of small single engine Cessna's. Last week I finished my fourth week with Dynamic with a combined total of approximately 96 million flies dropped so far (in four weeks). The Lord has been gracious to me by allowing me the opportunity to build very good turbine engine flight time as well as great maintenance experience here with Dynamic. Thank you to all of you who have thought of me and prayed for me during this time of transition. To those who might be wondering, this job is only a temporary position to build flight time and maintenance experience to serve as a missionary on the mission field. Currently I am in the process of applying to Africa Inland Mission to fly in East Africa.

Flies in California

As of June 27th I am now living in Southern California. With graduation now a memory (although school is in session for another four weeks), the weeks to come will be spent putting the finishing touches on school. The long cross-country, the final requirement for Moody, will take the last two weeks of school (June 5-15), while the two weeks prior will include backcountry flying in Idaho and Washington in preparation for the long cross-country trip. This past week I was flying in the Seattle and Portland area working on my instrument proficiency with another student and instructor. It is my hope to work for Dynamic for a year and a half to two years while maintaining close contact with Africa Inland Mission during that time.

Nairobi, Kenya

I arrived back to Spokane on March 4th after an incredible trip to East Africa. It was hard saying goodbye to many great people in a part of the world that needs so much. God has a plan for reaching Africa and I must say there is much work being accomplished. I had opportunities to work in Kenya and Uganda as well as fly in Sudan and DRC Congo. Africa is a place desperate for the Gospel. Thank you for your prayers and support.
